Welcome to the snow sports school for young children!
Hakuba Snowsports have some important information to share with you about the ski lessons for children under 5 years old.
Firstly, for parents with children aged 1 or 2, they unfortunately cannot offer ski lessons to them. However, the resort does offer day care options for these young ones, so you can still enjoy your time on the slopes while they are being taken care of by trained professionals.
For children aged 3 and 4, they do offer private ski lessons that are one-on-one with an instructor. These lessons typically last for 2 hours to begin with, and they will assess their progress to see if we can extend the duration of the lessons.
For those who do well in private lessons, they may be able to put them in the regular group lessons, but they must meet certain criteria. Firstly, they must want to join the lesson and not be pressured into it. They must also be able to cope in a group environment where they will not receive continuous individual attention. They need to be able to last a 2-hour duration without flagging or objecting. Lastly, they must be able to ski down a beginner run while controlling their speed and stopping on request without assistance from the instructor (using a kid’s magic carpet does not count for this).
Please note that regardless of your child's previous experience at other resorts or schools, all 3 and 4 year olds will need to do a 2 hour private lesson with Hakuba Snowsports before they can be considered for group lessons. The instructor will then make the decision whether they are ready to join the group lessons after the private lesson.
Hakuba Snowsports want to make sure that all their young skiers have a positive experience and feel comfortable on the mountain, so they appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following these guidelines.
