Overview

Winner of the 2018 Architectural Masterprize, Hiyoku provides an authentic, contemporary Japanese experience.

The steel structure of Hiyoku allows for the large expanses of glazing and unfettered living area, and was designed for a slim, minimalist profile. Hiyoku means “flying wing”, because the light, floating roof looks like it is about to take off.

Large groups will appreciate the spacious living, dining, and kitchen area, which extends seamlessly onto a large balcony.

Curl up around the crackling wood burning stove, which radiates heat slowly from its stone encasement.

The owners are avid chefs, and put a lot of time considering the best layout to cook up hearty feasts.

After a long day of adventuring, relax your tired muscles in the elegant Japanese ofuro bath, imbued with the natural scent of cypress wood.

With the best bedroom views, the second floor master bedroom + ensuite is a wonderful space for a languid morning. A bunk room provides sleeping for 4, yet each "pod" has privacy. The tatami room is a calming space that provides a uniquely Japanese feel.

And with for larger groups, the media room can be completely closed off to become a fourth bedroom.

At its heart Hiyoku is a skier & snowboarder's pad, with extra attention to detail in the gear room.

Hiyoku

Location

Perched on a river bluff, the award winning Hiyoku (飛翼) boasts a rare trinity of expansive vistas that frame Mt. Yotei, the Shiribetsu River, and the neighboring farm.

Nestled amongst towering larch trees, families and friends will enjoy an immersive experience within Hokkaido's tranquil nature.

Step out the front door and snowshoeing and Nordic skiing await you during winter. During summer, guests can enjoy a BBQ on the cantilevered balcony, and quiet farming roads are beckoning for some truly scenic bike rides through the Niseko countryside.

Hiyoku is ideally placed for people who yearn for a quiet Niseko holiday, within easy access to local amenities.

It is just a fine minute drive to Niseko Town's restaurants, the famous View Plaza farmer's market, and the exceptional wine and sake cellar Cave de Bambou. During winter, it is about 10-15 minutes drive to Annupuri Resort, Niseko Village, and Moiwa Resort, 20 minutes to Hirafu, and 40 minutes to Rusutsu.

For backcountry and hiking enthusiasts it is just 15 minutes to the Makkari trailhead up Mt. Yotei, and about 25 minutes to Chisenuppuri and Nittonupuri.

Getting Around

Given the off-the-beaten track location of this accommodation, we strongly recommend hiring a vehicle to get around.

Please make these arrangements as early as you can as it can be difficult to hire a vehicle at short notice due to availability contraints.

Having your own vehicle provides the freedowm to stock up on groceries, dine out in the evenings and day trip to other ski resorts in the region.
