Family owned and run, Kiriya Ryokan is a Japanese culture enthusiast’s dream.
From the personal, authentic hospitality through to the stunning gardens and beautifully decorated rooms, each moment here is sure to calm you, relax you and provide insight into the wonderful culture around you.
The ryokan itself is old and small, but has been incredibly maintained and updated over the years, so you definitely won’t feel it.
With a total of fifteen rooms, the ryokan provides personalised service that will make you feel incredibly welcome. This includes each night at dinner – the Japanese cuisine is prepared and you are left in privacy to enjoy it.
In the morning, breakfast is provided for free, which is a mix of western and Japanese options.
Ski facilities are also provided to guests, of course, including storage and drying rooms for equipment. Of course, facilities to please others are provided too – gorgeous indoor onsens allow guests to relax and unwind, while stunning gardens provide a refreshing destination during the warmer months.
There is also a large communal lounge area provided for guests, which also has Wi-Fi access, and laundry facilities that are free to use.
Location
The ryokan is located only a five-minute walk from the centre of town and even closer to the slopes, making it an ideal destination for ski enthusiasts.

Kiriya Onsen
The ryokan’s onsens are indoors and are separated by gender as well as being naturally heated and mineralised.
To ensure the high quality of the water and the enjoyment of all guests, there are a few rules regarding hygiene and the use of products in the onsen that need to be followed.
There are wash stations provided prior to your entry to the onsen, which include a range of complimentary bath products and towels.
The onsens are, though, a very relaxing and calming place. It is, in fact, considered rude to not be relaxed – so you better unwind!
The onsens are a perfect place for this, with the perfectly heated water and it’s minerals providing a soothing, rejuvenating experience for all guests.
